Renting vs. Buying…Which is Cheaper?

As home prices continue to appreciate locally, as well as nationally, it begs the question…Does renting become a more affordable option than buying a home?  

Well, in looking at the following interactive map from Trulia,  it currently shows for all 100 of the largest cities in our country it is cheaper to buy than to rent.  http://goo.gl/YLOdcs  It looks like there are some pretty good deals in Michigan and parts or Indiana!  Portland/Vancouver shows that it is currently 36% cheaper to buy.
